1830s GERMAN HALF POST BLOWN DECANTER WITH CUT GLASS STARS ORIGINAL STOPPER

Description

This is an early 1800s pontiled "Half Post" blown decanter utility bottle with its original ground glass stopper.....cut glass stars & notched corners around bottle....cut star on matching original glass stopper.....Hand blown in mold with a 2nd layer of glass (referred to by collectors as German Half Post).....ring around shoulder where 2nd layer of glass ends....ground pontil bottom....clear flint glass....crude ring lip.....6 sided....8 1/2"tall (9 3/4"with stopper)....it has a crack in the side which curls onto shoulder; no other damage.  Some light inside haze...Stopper fits snug. This was a liquor decanter or utility bottle blown in the 1810-1830s period or possibly older, from the 1780s Colonial Era.
