    Description

Offered here is a 1920's American Indian Doll. He's in the original box, which is marked " Skookum (Bully Good) The Great Indian Character Doll Patented Trade Mark Registered NO. 4033". (the 4 is hard to read, but under strong light it looks to be there) The doll is all original, has not been cleaned, repaired or altered in any way. I was contacted by someone who thought that the doll is actually a Minnetonka doll, rather than a Skookum. He's been in this box forever, I'll leave it to you to decide based on the characteristics
The doll stands 12 inches high, has mohair wig, wooden legs and feet. The head is composite, Navajo blanket and cotton shirt. The leggings are felt and the shoes are painted felt. There is no tag on the foot. He's got his original beaded necklace and what looks like the remains of a green feather that may have been part of a headdress.
This doll is special in that he's been in my family since he was purchased new - my great aunt had him from the time she was little (lived in Indiana) and passed him to my aunt, who has now asked me to find him a good home. Having this provenance on a doll is rare - it's really  cool to be able to trace him back to when he was purchased.
Overall condition is very good, I see no damage to the head or clothing, except the pieces of green feather on his arm that look like they might have been a head dress at some point. He is a bit dusty but otherwise clean. The box is intact, no tears or damage, feels solid.
If you've got any questions, please ask and I'll do my best to help. Thanks for checking out my listings!
