Harold Sanborn started the "Sanborn Souvenir Company" out of downtown Denver in the 1920's.  For the next 40 years, the commercial photographer traveled throughout Colorado & Wyoming taking photos of places of note.  Some of the photo's may be the only photograph that was ever taken of the store, building, etc.  Sometime Sanborn would only print 25 postcards of an image. If it didn't sell, hew wouldn't print more.  He included a "code" along with his signature-on the front of each card.  The codes divided up Colorado into geographic regions:  D for Denver, I for Idaho Springs, G for Grand Lake.  Sanborn took photos without people or vehicles in them.  "The problem is they looked somewhat lifeless and flat, some say..  Sanborn is renowned for his Colorado Rocky Mountain Park (CRMC) photo's and postcards.  Many feature the "Rockies," small towns (Glen Haven), Estes Park, Rivers-Big Thompson, Mountain passes (Cumberland), Businesses (Broadmoor), Red Rocks Theatre, Royal Gorge Bridge, dirt highways and seasonal photorama.
