    Description

    Presented today is this lovely Hopi Kachina doll, depicting Koroasta, the Dress Kachina. The Kachina seems to come from the Rio Grande Pueblos, and is said to have influence over the growth of corn, as symbolized by the bag of corn kernels he carries with him. This delicately carved example, standing 15 inches tall, was carved by the talented and respected carver, Martin Dallas, of Moencopi. Martin carves with a with a sensitive vitality, and his work is always reverent and sincere.  This doll is an excellent example of his work, and the macaw on his head is a work of art all by itself. It would look great in any Kachina doll collection, and both from the standpoint of subject matter and remarkable decoration, it would definitely call attention to itself. i am very proud to represent the work of this talented artist, and to offer his artwork to all of you, my friends.
