Presented today is this gorgeous Hopi Kachina doll, depicting Palavikuna, the Red Skirt Kachina. This unusually dressed Kachina is a Racing Kachina. He whips slow runners to speed them up, but is also very generous with piki bread to fast runners. This beautiful example is carved with startling delicacy and detail, and is the work of the highly talented and respected Conrad Torivio, of Moencopi.
