for the international marketplace. It's hand painted body features semi-transparent as well as semi-opaque glazes, that demonstrate real artistic virtuosity and is very sensitively realized, producing a more than believable appearance to this coveted breed, the
Chinese Pekingese
purebred dog. The face is particularly well-executed, with sympathetic, attentive eyes, as if the dog is prodding its owner for a treat or to be taken outside to play or for a walk. It's body is characterized by hand-tooled, sgraffito marks to its exterior, ably creating the appearance of fur hair and how it believably falls on the
Pekingese
dog's body. Four padded feet complete this
Modernist
ceramic masterwork. It has a brown felt cover on its bottom to protect surfaces and is clearly signed on a foot. Very clean and estate fresh. It was clearly loved, coveted by its former owner and unmistakably well-cared for. If God had a couple of cocktails and set out to create the most adorable creature on the planet, well this may have been his handiwork. Gorgeous.
