Here's a very nice pair of original UREI LA-4 compressor/limiters. These low noise compressor/limiters follow the LA2A and LA3A lineage with optical gain reduction and wide range ratio control, with 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1 settings.  Excellent for recording, mixing, mastering, and sound reinforcement.  Robust construction and accurate, high quality VU meters.  The unit will operate on 110 or 220 volts.
Cosmetic / mechanical condition is quite good but there are some markings on the front panel that we were unable to clean off. This can be seen in the front panel photo.
The sale includes a new 19" rack mount adapter, new XLR adapter cables and a copy of the owner's manual.
As with all the AMS, dbx, UREI, and other gear we sell, the unit has been fully restored, serviced, and calibrated in our shop by expert technicians who have worked on UREI gear for over 20 years and know these pieces inside out.  All the electrolytic capacitors have all been replaced and both units have been fully calibrated and tested.  The power supply capacitors have been replaced with costly Sprague long life electrolytics. The opto LEDs and cells have been replaced, the units are fully calibrated and accurately within spec. Stereo matching is very good. Both units are fully guaranteed to work like new.
The units are in good mechanical and cosmetic condition.  The front panels, panel parts, and meters look great. All the knobs are new. The circuit boards and electronics are clean and tight.  There are some small flaws on the front panel of the right hand unit but overall they are in quite good shape.
Even if you never purchase from us, please know that 99% of the gear described on ebay as “working perfectly” or “excellent condition”, isn't. It may pass signal, the lights may work, and the meters may do about what's expected, but most ebay gear will have a problem with distortion, frequency response, etc.  Unless the seller is a full service shop that knows these units, or has taken it to one and can show documentation, claims of perfect operating condition are usually wishful thinking. It’s unfortunate, but Ebay sellers constantly make unsubstantiated claims about the pro audio gear they're selling.

1. Reburb and testing: every UREI item that we sell has been been thoroughly serviced and tested.  Any marginal components are replaced.  The VU lamps are replaced.  The power supplies are thoroughly serviced and checked.  Units are thoroughly tested. Most digital gear gets a 1 week burn in test.
2. Marginal parts: Since we refurb so many UREI products, we know what to look for.  If a switch is bent or noisy or if pot is faulty, we replace it.  If a meter doesn’t have the right ballistics, we repair it or replace it.  If a fastener is missing from the top or bottom cover, we replace it.
3. Function and specs test: most UREI sellers on ebay don’t own a manual, and may not even know how to operate these units.  Before listing this item on ebay we checked signal/noise ratio, frequency response, attack and decay time, and more.  Most sellers don’t have the knowledge or the equipment to properly check these functions.
4. Support: if something goes wrong, we’ll get you taken care of quickly.  We stock hundreds of UREI parts; nearly everything in these units.  Next week or next year, if there’s a problem, call us.  We’ll be glad to help you out, and will do so quickly.
