Claudia Estelle Carter was born to Mr. Edwin Carter and Mrs. Gladys Carter. The family lived at 44 Steuben in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut in 1950, where the house still stands. Mr. Carter worked as a foreman at a silverware factory. This part of that state was known for its silverware all the way back to the 19th century and Meriden earned the name “SILVER CITY” due to the large number of silver manufacturers.
