    Description

    For sale is a Vintage Hopi Native American Wukoqala “Big Forehead” Kachina doll.
    Handmade with great care; the details are quite breath-taking.
    He formerly appeared in the Mixed Kachina Dances and urged the boys of the village to be good hunters.
    Tags on the underside of the base identify this as such; also states “last seen about 1926”.
    Some of the writing on the tag is intelligible.

    This item has been given to me for sale by the family of the person who owned it.
    He passed away, so I cannot give more details on provenance.
    This person had numerous kachinas and others will soon be at auction.

    Measures approximately 17”H; 8.5” wide from arm to arm; base is approximately 7 diameter.

    Beautifully made from wood with feather, leather, and fur accents.
    It shows dust from storage, but I don’t see any major flaws such as chips/cracks/evidence of repair.
