    Welcome to my ebay store:
    This listing is for a vintage small Kachina doll given to me by a 90 year old friend. I am going to assume it is circa 1930s or 40s judging by color etc. I am selling most of her childhood dolls, ranging from German to Japan as well.
    The figure is called a CRADLE Kachina, it was gifted to babies. They were
    given to young Hopi girls as gifts. The Hopi believe these figures will bring girls happiness, wealth, and health in the future. They are also used as educational tools to teach girls about Hopi beliefs. Katsina, or kachina dolls are still being made today.
    This particular figure is I believe called Aya, the Rattle. It is 3" tall and carved wood.
    There is a tiny hole on top of head, I suspect at one time it had feathers inserted.
    No maker marks on doll.
